Top Tips on Working From Home
- Define your space. Always separate work from home. Don’t work wherever you happen to be. Dedicated a room specifically to working so that when you enter it, you know what you’re there to do: work.
- Set regular hours.
- Don’t stay in pajamas. Have breakfast, take a shower, and get dressed. Make a list of tasks for the day and then get started.
- Try not to close the door to separate your workplace and professional space. If your door is open, it represents the idea that if work’s a bit tough, you don’t have to do it. To your family, it means that you are around, and they can talk to you.
- Keep your desk and general work area neat. A tidy space helps you be more productive.
- Turn off your phone when you need to work without distraction.
- Don’t stop working even if it’s a difficult day. There will be times when you haven’t got any ideas and don’t feel productive. Try to work anyway. Eventually, you’ll never seem to get anything done.
- Keep three lists, the first list of which has three things you will do that day. The second is three things you would like to get done, but aren’t as essential. The third list has three things that need to be done at some point in time. That way, when you’ve trudged through your day’s work, you won’t end up sitting twiddling your thumbs.
- Start the day early and properly. Have a filling breakfast, spend some time alone to just sit and do your own thing. Relax and let your mind wander. Just try to make sure that your mind isn’t in the ‘I hate working’ frame of mind.
- Pick a good chair. Whether it’s mesh-backed ones or good comfy leather, It’s worth spending some money on.
